About
I'm Salma — a bilingual therapist-in-training based in Greater Los Angeles. This is the longer version of who I am.
01
The short version
I grew up between worlds — between languages, between cultures, between the version of me my family knew and the version I was building on my own. From a young age, I was the person friends came to when something felt too heavy to carry alone. For a long time, I thought that was just who I was. Now I understand it was the beginning of a calling.
02
Where I trained
I studied psychology at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where I learned to think carefully about why people do what they do. After college, I worked in industries that taught me a different kind of listening — sales, fitness, real estate, caretaking — anywhere people came to make a change. Those years shaped how I show up now: warm, patient, and not easily rattled.
03
Where I am now
I'm completing my Master's in Counseling at Concordia University Irvine, with the goal of becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California. I'm not yet seeing clients. I'm in the part of training where I'm learning, supervising, reading, writing, and getting clearer about the kind of therapist I want to become.
04
Why I'm building this site now
Most therapy sites only exist once someone is fully licensed. I'm doing it differently. I want the people I'll eventually work with to be able to find me — to read what I think, to know what I believe about this work, and to feel like they already know me a little bit by the time we meet. Therapy is, in the end, a relationship. This is where ours starts.
